The City of Houston filled the newly created position of chief transportation planner last month.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner tabbed David Fields as the first person to hold the job. Fields will oversee the billion-dollar transportation planning efforts taking root in the region. He will also collaborate with major transportation entities such as Houston Public Works, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Houston-Galveston Area Council.
With more than two decades of professional planning experience, Fields recently served as a principal planner with Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, Inc. and was a senior planner at Parsons Brinckerhoff.
Turner believes that Fields is someone “who can create safe and efficient transportation options for all Houstonians.”
“I am confident that David Fields will break down the silos and fully integrate the city’s mobility solutions with all our partners,” the mayor said in a statement.
