A competition-style barbecue restaurant is coming to Mainland City Centre in Texas City.
A buildout for Texas Pit Stop BBQ is scheduled to be ready by October at a location in the complex formerly known as Mall of the Mainland, according to Galveston County Daily News.
Owner Arnold Garza has two other Texas Pit Stop BBQ locations at 2216 Gulf Freeway, La Marque, and 6612 Seawall Blvd., Galveston.
Texas Pit Stop serves lunch and dinner. It has a bar and its main cuisine is barbecue, said its Facebook page.
Garza was the head cook of the cook-off team Los Vaqueros, which won several trophies and awards for their barbecue, according to the restaurant's website. It’s also placed first place for ribs in Galveston County.
Los Vaqueros won the Triple Crown Trophy title, which recognizes the best barbecue in Galveston County, five of seven years they participated. Garza used that passion to open his first family-owned barbecue restaurant.
Mainland City Centre is at 10000 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway.
