Galveston Independent School District issued the following announcement.
Galveston ISD will host a virtual reception on Wednesday night for high-performing teachers recognized as part of the new Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA).
During the Galveston ISD Curriculum Committee Meeting scheduled for September 2 at 6 p.m., 40 teachers will be acknowledged for receiving a five-year designation as a master, exemplary, or recognized teacher based on teacher observation and student growth data. The overall payout for GISD teachers is $581,850 and individual salary increases range from $5,687 to $27,252 annually, depending on the level of their designation and the socioeconomic level of the students they teach.
“The State of Texas has a goal to provide pathways for the most effective teachers to earn six-figure salaries. We are proud to know that many of those teachers are right here in Galveston ISD,” exclaims GISD Superintendent Dr. Kelli Moulton. “I want to thank these 40 educators who have earned this distinction and the countless others who dedicate their lives to our children every day.”
Galveston ISD is the only district in Galveston County participating in the TIA program, a key part of House Bill 3 dedicated to salary increases for educators who prioritize teaching in high needs areas and rural district campuses.
