The City of Galveston is seeking a fresh look with artists invited to submit proposals for public projects.
The Galveston Cultural Arts Commission will accept proposals through Feb. 1. Projects can include any artwork existing in a public space and can be visual, literary, performing or media arts.
Funding is available at any level, although there will be an emphasis on projects with a budget of $5,000 or less. All projects must be completed by Sept. 30, 2022.
Submitted projects will be reviewed by the Galveston Cultural Arts Commission. Community members who represent visual and performing arts along with arts education are appointed by the city to the commission. The commission will forward its recommendations that meet all criteria to the city which will decide whether to provide grant funding the press release reported. There are no residency restrictions, but city residents are encouraged to apply.
Visit the city's website for additional information and criteria.
