The Texas General Land Office is partnering with Galveston County and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to hold a Vessel Turn-In Program, offering residents the opportunity to turn in non-operating vessels for proper disposal.

"The Vessel Turn-In Program is proud to provide the Galveston community with the opportunity to dispose of their unwanted vessels in a safe, environmentally conscious manner," Land Commissioner George P. Bush said in a news release. "At the Texas General Land Office, we prioritize helping Texans and ensuring our state's environment is preserved for generations to come. Our Vessel Turn-In Program serves to bring the necessary resources to our local coastal communities while protecting our coast from possible threat."

The program is accepting vessels no longer than 26 feet. Interested boat owners should call 409-766-4509 or 409-766-4516 to see if they pre-qualify for the program. After approval, the vessel may then be delivered to the drop-off point for disposal.
