This week, the Texas Supreme Court has granted the City of Galveston's request for Oral Argument.

The Oral Argument is in relation to the petition that the city has filed against the Texas General Land Office. As of now, the oral argument is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2021, but followers of the case should keep in mind that court procedures are being changed frequently due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related safety measures.

The case began in 2013 when a contractor opened up a lawsuit against the City seeking funds that were entitled under the Community Development Block Grant program that was established to incentivize and fund construction following Hurricane Ike. In the legal battles since the City has continuously asked for relief. Finally, the case has arrived before the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court will hear the case and make a final ruling on this case.
