5.7% of citizens unemployed in Galveston County in 2021

Galveston County recorded an unemployment rate of 5.7% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 9,949 people out of the 347,084 living in Galveston County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Galveston County has decreased compared to the 5.9% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Galveston County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.3%.

Of the 164,572 people who had a job during that time, 573 were employed in the Armed Forces and 163,999 belonged to the civilian labor force.
