Galveston College issued the following announcement on May 18.
The May 2020 mini-semester began Monday, May 18, at Galveston College. Signs directed the technical and professional students who were on campus for hands-on instruction to the Mary Moody Northen Center east entrance on the main campus and the Building 3 entrance at the Charlie Thomas Family Applied Technology Center, where they were screened for COVID-19 symptoms and temperature.
All May mini-semester and summer classes are online, with the exception of certain technical courses and programs that require hands-on instruction that cannot be delivered online but can be delivered face to face in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
As a reminder, the campus is only open to those involved in teaching and learning activities. Staff members who need to report to campus will be notified by their supervisors. The campus is closed to visitors, including children and the general public. Those who need to conduct business with the bookstore or business office should call for an appointment.
All individuals entering campus facilities are expected to use a facial mask or face covering. Students and faculty should bring their own masks.
As students, faculty and staff enter the buildings on the main campus and at the ATC, there are screening stations to check for signs of COVID-19. Once inside campus facilities, faculty, staff and students are expected to maintain an appropriate social distance, as well as to continue to use facial masks or face coverings, as appropriate and in accordance with CDC guidelines.
